Description Kevin Wright 2014-09-15 23:32:09 UTC
Using the standard build of R for Windows (from CRAN), this minimal example causes a hard crash for me. Also causes a crash on R 2.15.1.

My setup:

R> sessionInfo()
R version 3.1.1 (2014-07-10)
Platform: x86_64-w64-mingw32/x64 (64-bit)

Still crashes R in version 3.2.5. My setup:

> sessionInfo()

Platform: x86_64-w64-mingw32/x64 (64-bit)
Running under: Windows 8.1 x64 (build 9600)

Seems to be working in the 2017-03-16 r72357 development snapshot of R (64 bit binary build for Windows). Tested on Wine (Linux), where I could also reproduce the crash with R 3.3.3.

This was probably fixed in R-devel r72242. Related mailing list thread:

From the SVN log:

cairo_pdf() and svg() and cairo_ps() all now initialize a device on dev_Open() rather than waiting until dev_NewPage() to avoid problems replaying display list. Reported by Yihui Xie
